As a leading producer of wood panels, building materials and pellets
in GREECE, ALFA WOOD GROUP promotes and supports its use
of renewable energy in practice. Green energy as
driver of sustainable development is the main long-term strategy of the group
to reduce carbon dioxide gas emissions (Kg-CO₂).

What is solid biomass recycling?
It is the reuse of organic materials that have direct or indirect
biological/organic origin, in our case mainly of these materials
based on wood. This biomass is at the end of its life cycle
of, as a result of industrial processing, whether it is found as
waste – residue in nature.
Such materials can come from:

  • from wood waste such as pallets or packaging materials
  • from the forest (forest biomass), such as tree bark and trunks, branches, etc.
  • from plant tissue waste, such as crop residues, straw, etc.
  • from sawmill residues or by-products

The biomass to be recycled, after being collected, is taken to the factories
of our group and is subject to specific processing in order to
used for the production of green energy (heat and
electric power).

All by-products of wood processing, resulting from the production process
as well as those not suitable for sale/essentially at the end of their life cycle,
are used to produce energy from biomass, depending on their origin,
thus saving energy resources, while contributing to sustainability.
At the same time, biomass through its combustion produces heat in addition to "green electricity".

A materials means A quality / RELIABILITY
For the production of our materials (panel, pellet laminate flooring) based on
wood, we source the timber, exclusively from suppliers who
are controlled by the certified state organizations (Dn/s
forests/forest authorities) but also international organizations such as FSC®.
The composition of our materials consists of: (wood, advanced technology surfaces
with antibacterial & antifungal properties and adhesive substances,
except for wood pellets that do not contain adhesives).
The percentage of wood in the veneered panels is 85% and the rest
consists of advanced technology surfaces with antibacterial &
antifungal properties and adhesives.
The percentage of wood in the laminate flooring is 80% wood and the
rest consists of the decorative surface and adhesives.
The percentage of wood in the pellets, together with its moisture, is 100%.

Formaldehyde content in our wood-based panels
Formaldehyde is emitted from the wood panel mass during
of bonding it with urea-based resins,
formaldehyde or phenol. A wood-based material today is allowed
to have a formaldehyde concentration of less than 8 mg per 100 g of dry matter
board, in order to meet the criteria of emission class E1.
The wood-based panels are lined with fiberboard or chipboard with
veneer or decorative surfaces, on one or both sides
them, while at the same time it is available in many colors and textures with
consequently being an ideal material for furniture.

Our industry procures the wood it uses for its production
panels and wood pellets, exclusively from suppliers who are controlled by
certified state organizations (forestry agencies/forestry offices) as well as international ones
organizations such as FSC®

 

 

FSC:
Certification for MDF production (melamine, veneer, HPL, CPL, Foil, Acrylic,
PVC, Antifinger) & Chipboard (melamine, veneer, HPL, CPL, Foil, Acrylic, Laminate
Flooring, Indoor Furniture and doors & frames. Keeping it certified
supply chain system, the group provides assurance that the
ALFA WOOD group products are sourced and produced in compliance
with a globally recognized ecological, social and economic
role model.
