OSB (Oriented strand board) is a structural wooden board in flat form produced by pressing oriented large pieces of wood, with suitable adhesives and hygroscopic substances. Due to the way it is manufactured from several layers of oriented wood pieces, the anisotropy of the wood is reduced and a wood board is produced with properties similar to anti-stickers.
Its main quality characteristics are considered to be the following:
- Density
- Moisture content
- Shrinkage
- Swelling
- Mechanical strength
- Surface quality
Accordingly, the main uses of OSB are as follows:
- Structural insulating panels
- Formwork slabs for concrete
- Boarding of roofs & covering panels of interior & exterior walls of prefabricated houses and other buildings.
- Industrial packaging & commodity boxes
- Pallets
- Carpentry
- In parts of upholstered furniture
