Reopening of the ALFA WOOD GROUP factory in Komotini – Strategic investment in Thrace

With the presence of institutional representatives, partners, suppliers and numerous guests from Greece and abroad, the official inauguration of the new factory took place on Saturday, September 20, 2025. ALFA WOOD GROUP in Komotini, marking the reopening of a historic industrial unit and the beginning of a new development path for the Thrace region.

 The investment in Komotini is one of the most important initiatives of ALFA WOOD GROUP, strengthening the Group's position in the timber and industrial production sector. The new unit, with a total area of 300,000 sq.m. with building facilities 60,000 sq.m. and annual production capacity 250,000 sq m., is part of the strategic investment plan of 29 million euros, which will be completed by 2027. With the reopening of the factory, the new generation of five-layer particleboard is launched ALFAPAN 5+, the result of many years of research and development that sets new standards of quality and sustainability.

 At the same time, the Group is launching the construction photovoltaic stations and biomass power plant total power 6 MW, projects that will be completed by 2027 and will further strengthen the green orientation of the investment. Overall, it will create 100 new jobs, confirming the social and developmental nature of the initiative.

 During the speeches, the Management of ALFA WOOD GROUP emphasized the importance of the investment:

 THE Mr. Stelios Agorastos, Vice President & CEO, emphasized: «"ALFA WOOD GROUP is growing steadily, combining innovation, extroversion and respect for the environment. Our new factory in Komotini is the only one in Europe that produces the innovative five-layer chipboard ALFAPAN 5+, setting new quality and technological standards in the industry.".

 THE Mr. Vasilis Adamopoulos, President of the Group, noted: «"Today is a milestone in the history of ALFA WOOD GROUP and for Thrace. The reopening of the factory in Komotini was based on our people, who with faith and dedication kept our vision alive. We invest in the local community, support the national economy and create prospects for future generations, proving that Greek industry can play a leading role in Europe.".

 Special mention was made by Minister of Health and former Minister of Development Mr. Adonis Georgiades, who in his keynote speech emphasized: «"Today I am proud that the commitment to reopen the factory in Komotini has become a reality through the strategic investment of ALFA WOOD GROUP. This is a circular economy investment that respects the environment, supports the people of the local community and gives a new perspective to bordering Thrace.".

 The words of the two founders of the Group were particularly moving, Mr. Antonios Adamopoulos and Mr. Christos Agorastos, in the short greeting they gave. Next, the floor was taken by Director of the Komotini factory, Mr. Dimitrios Katsanos. The event was coordinated by the presenter Grigoris Arnaoutoglou.

 The ceremony was attended and honored with their presence, among others, by: President of the Parliament Mr. Nikitas Kaklamanis, the Deputy Minister of Rural Development & Food Mr. Christos Kellas, the member of parliament for Rodopi, Mr. Evripides Stylianidis, the member of parliament for Rhodope, Mr. Ferhat Nazif Ozgur, the Regional Governor of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace Mr. Christodoulos Topsidis and Mr. Dimitris Politeiadis, representative of the Mayor of Komotini.

 

 Before the speeches, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the late Mr. George Adamopoulos, father of the founders of the Adamopoulos family and the Agorastos family, who passed away a few days ago.

 As part of the event, guests had the opportunity to tour the production lines, where the decorative paper impregnation line, the new generation of particleboard production line were presented. ALFAPAN 5+, the stage of smooth reduction in temperature and humidity.

 The event concluded in a particularly warm atmosphere with gastronomic delights and discussions among the guests, who exchanged ideas and opinions on the prospects of the industry and the leading role of ALFA WOOD GROUP in Greece and abroad.
